TasteBuds Terms and Conditions
Last updated: April 9, 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the TasteBuds consumer service, including the TasteBuds website, app, accounts, profiles, social features, venue pages, feeds, and related services (together, the "Service").
These Terms form a legal agreement between you and Big Theory Ltd, trading as TasteBuds, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom with company number 12767506 and registered office at 124 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX ("TasteBuds", "we", "us", or "our").
You can contact us at:
- Support: support@tastebuds.dev
- Privacy: privacy@tastebuds.dev
- Legal / IP complaints: legal@tastebuds.dev
By creating an account, accessing the Service, or using any TasteBuds feature, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You may only use the Service if you are at least 13 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under applicable law.
You must provide accurate, complete, and reasonably up-to-date account information.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure, all activity carried out through your account, and notifying us promptly at support@tastebuds.dev if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
TasteBuds currently uses third-party authentication providers to support account access. Your use of those authentication services may also be subject to the relevant provider’s terms and privacy notice.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that are inaccurate, misleading, insecure, dormant for an extended period, or in breach of these Terms.
3. What TasteBuds Provides
TasteBuds is a social dining platform that may allow users to discover eateries and venues, maintain profiles, add friends or connections, log visits, recommendations, favourites, and other activity, create and collaborate on lists, upload media and other content, interact with venue pages and feed features, and receive personalised social and venue-related content.
We may add, remove, improve, suspend, or modify features at any time for operational, legal, security, commercial, or product reasons.
We do not guarantee that any feature, category, ranking system, recommendation logic, experimental feature, or integration will always be available or continue in the same form.
If we introduce paid features, subscriptions, or premium services in the future, additional terms, pricing, and billing information may apply at the point of purchase.
4. No Professional, Safety, or Reliability Guarantee
TasteBuds is provided for informational and social purposes only.
TasteBuds does not provide medical, allergy, dietary, legal, financial, or other professional advice. You are responsible for deciding whether a venue, dish, ingredient, recommendation, or event is suitable for your own needs.
You should independently verify important information, including allergens, ingredients, accessibility, opening hours, pricing, availability, bookings, and venue suitability.
5. Your Content
"Your Content" means content you submit, upload, post, create, or otherwise make available through the Service, including text, photos, videos, comments, lists, recommendations, visit logs, profile information, usernames, and similar material.
You retain ownership of Your Content.
By submitting Your Content, you grant TasteBuds a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt, format, publish, display, communicate, distribute, and otherwise use Your Content to operate and provide the Service, secure, moderate, and improve the Service, develop and test product features, maintain backups and records, investigate abuse, fraud, and legal issues, and promote the Service in ways reasonably connected to the Service and your use of it.
This licence continues for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes. If you delete Your Content or close your account, the licence will end within a reasonable time except to the extent the content has already been shared with other users who have not deleted it, retention is required for backups, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, record-keeping, or legal compliance, or the content has been irreversibly anonymised.
You represent and warrant that Your Content does not infringe third-party rights or breach these Terms or any applicable law.
6. Acceptable Use
You must not use TasteBuds to:
- harass, abuse, bully, stalk, threaten, or intimidate anyone;
- impersonate any person or falsely suggest affiliation with a venue, business, or other party;
- post false, misleading, deceptive, or manipulated recommendations, reviews, visit logs, rankings, or social activity;
- conceal any material incentive, payment, gift, hospitality, or benefit connected to content you post;
- upload unlawful, infringing, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful content;
- collect, scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service in an unauthorised way;
- reverse engineer, probe, bypass, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, access controls, or technical restrictions;
- use bots, scripts, or automation in a way that harms the Service or other users;
- access data you are not authorised to access;
- upload malware or other harmful code; or
- submit sensitive personal data, payment card data, or confidential business information unless we explicitly ask for it and provide an appropriate method.
7. Social Features, Visibility, and Search Engines
TasteBuds includes social and collaborative features.
Recommendations, visit logs, list activity, and similar social activity are intended to be friend-facing, not public by default.
Your profile name and profile picture may be visible more broadly within the Service. Any content or profile information made publicly accessible outside an authenticated part of the Service may also be accessible to search engines and other third parties.
You are responsible for choosing what you share and understanding that content may be surfaced in feeds, profiles, venue pages, search results, and other parts of the Service according to the product design.
We do not guarantee that access restrictions, indexing controls, or removal from search engines will take effect immediately.
8. Usernames and Profiles
You may not claim usernames, profile names, or identities in a way that infringes rights, misleads users, or falsely suggests official affiliation.
We may reclaim, remove, or require changes to usernames, handles, profile fields, or profile content if we reasonably believe they are infringing, misleading, abusive, dormant for an extended period and needed for operational reasons, or otherwise inconsistent with these Terms.
9. Reporting, Moderation, and Enforcement
We may, but are not obliged to, monitor the Service for compliance with these Terms.
We may investigate reports, review content, and take action where we reasonably believe content or conduct breaches these Terms, creates risk for users, third parties, or the Service, may be unlawful, or undermines the integrity, safety, or trustworthiness of the platform.
Our actions may include removing or restricting content, limiting visibility, issuing warnings, disabling features, suspending or terminating accounts, preserving evidence, and reporting matters to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Users may report abusive, unlawful, or otherwise problematic content or conduct by emailing support@tastebuds.dev.
We may act without prior notice where we reasonably believe immediate action is necessary for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or security.
10. Venue Pages and Business-Managed Pages
The Service may include venue pages, place data, images, categories, descriptions, opening hours, social signals, and other venue-related information from users, third-party providers, public sources, businesses, partners, or our own systems.
Businesses or authorised representatives may be permitted to claim, manage, or suggest changes to certain venue pages or venue-related information.
We do not guarantee that any venue page or place information is complete, accurate, current, verified, lawful, or suitable.
Inclusion of a venue, listing, or business on the Service does not imply endorsement, verification, inspection, or recommendation by TasteBuds.
11. Business Insight Layer
TasteBuds may use information generated through operation of the Service to support analytics, benchmarking, service monitoring, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, product improvement, and a separate business-facing insight or analytics product.
Business customers will not receive your personal account credentials or raw personal account data through that business insight product.
TasteBuds may use user activity, recommendations, visit logs, and review-style content to generate venue-level analytics, rankings, popularity indicators, benchmark reports, and similar outputs, provided those outputs are presented in aggregated, anonymised, or otherwise non-user-identifiable form.
To reduce the risk of identifying individual users, we may apply minimum thresholds, aggregation rules, suppression rules, rolling reporting windows, and time delays before venue-level outputs are made available to businesses.
As part of our current approach:
- simple venue-level aggregate counts or visit metrics may only be made available where at least 5 unique users contributed to the relevant reporting window;
- more granular segmented metrics may require at least 10 relevant contributors in the relevant segment or time window;
- excerpt-style insight, richer theme analysis, or similar output derived from user quotes, media, or natural language processing may require at least 20 distinct contributors in the relevant lookback window;
- simple venue-level outputs may be delayed by around 7 days before becoming available to businesses;
- more detailed or excerpt-style outputs may be delayed by around 30 days and may only be shown over broader rolling windows, such as 30-day or 90-day windows; and
- where there is insufficient underlying activity or where we determine that an output may create a meaningful risk of identifying a user, we may suppress, combine, delay, or withhold that output.
We may update these thresholds, windows, delays, and suppression practices from time to time to reflect privacy, legal, safety, operational, or product requirements.
For more information about how we use personal data, please see our Privacy Notice.
12. Privacy and Location Data
Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, store, share, and otherwise process personal data.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal data will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Notice.
TasteBuds may use location data when you are using the app or relevant features, subject to your device permissions and our Privacy Notice. TasteBuds does not promise that location-based features will always be accurate or available.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your privacy or data protection rights, contact us at privacy@tastebuds.dev.
13. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on or integrate with third-party services, such as cloud hosting, analytics, authentication, mapping, geolocation, media storage, and communications providers.
Your use of third-party services may also be subject to those third parties’ terms and privacy notices.
We are not responsible for third-party services, content, policies, or systems that we do not own or control.
14. Intellectual Property in the Service
We or our licensors own all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including software, design, branding, databases, visual interfaces, compilations, and underlying intellectual property, excluding Your Content.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for personal, non-commercial consumer use.
You must not copy, adapt, distribute, sell, lease, license, decompile, or exploit any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by law or by us in writing.
15. Copyright and IP Complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, contact us at legal@tastebuds.dev with sufficient detail for us to review the complaint.
We may remove, restrict, or investigate allegedly infringing content where appropriate.
16. Account Deletion, Suspension, and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
Where available in the product, you may delete your account through the self-serve account deletion function. Deletion of your account request may take effect immediately in the user interface, but removal from all systems, backups, logs, caches, search indexes, and derived systems may take additional time.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access immediately or on notice if you breach these Terms, we reasonably believe you create legal, security, fraud, abuse, or platform-integrity risk, we are required to do so by law, your account has been dormant for an extended period, or continuing to provide the Service to you is no longer commercially or operationally feasible.
Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will survive, including sections relating to intellectual property, liability, disputes, privacy-related retention, and any accrued rights or obligations.
17. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your needs.
We do not guarantee that recommendations, rankings, search results, feeds, listings, venue pages, social signals, or user-generated content will be complete, accurate, current, safe, lawful, or suitable.
Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have under mandatory consumer law that cannot be excluded or limited.
18. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss or damage, or loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity, or data, arising out of or in connection with the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or GBP 100.
If the Service is provided entirely free of charge, the liability cap above still applies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
19. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes to these Terms, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by posting the updated Terms in the Service, updating the "Last updated" date, or using in-app or email notice where appropriate.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
20. Complaints
If you have a complaint about the Service, content, moderation, privacy, or your account, contact us at:
- support@tastebuds.dev
- privacy@tastebuds.dev for privacy matters
- legal@tastebuds.dev for IP or legal notices
We aim to review complaints within 30 days.
21. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
You and TasteBuds agree that the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may bring proceedings in your home courts where mandatory law allows.
22. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.
Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our rights.
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and TasteBuds regarding the consumer Service, except where other applicable policies, feature-specific rules, or purchase terms expressly apply.
